Hi Faith! Welcome to planDisney. Your June visit to the
Disneyland Resort will be here before you know it, and I’m so glad you reached out with this question. Knowing about early park closures ahead of time is a great way to plan your days smoothly and avoid any surprises.
The early closures you’re seeing at
Disney California Adventure Park on June 5 and June 7 are due to
Grad Nite celebrations. Grad Nite is a specially ticketed event designed exclusively for graduating high school seniors. On these evenings, Disney California Adventure closes earlier than usual (typically at 9:00 p.m.) to prepare for the festivities. Once the park closes to day Guests, the celebration begins for Grad Nite attendees, featuring access to select attractions, themed entertainment, DJs placed throughout the park, special food and beverage offerings, character appearances, and fun photo backdrops to help graduates commemorate this milestone.
It’s important to note that Grad Nite events are closed to the general public, so only Guests with a Grad Nite ticket may remain in Disney California Adventure after the early closure. If your plans originally included spending the full evening in that park, you may want to adjust your schedule by either visiting Disney California Adventure earlier in the day or planning to hop over to
Disneyland Park later in the evening if your ticket allows.
Grad Nites typically take place on multiple nights throughout May and June, so it’s always a good idea to double-check park hours in the
Disneyland app as your travel dates approach. The app will reflect early closures well in advance and is the best place to confirm operating hours for both theme parks.
Looking beyond Grad Nite, there are a few other special ticketed events throughout the year that can also affect park hours. Disney has released its
After Hours event calendar, which highlights evenings when either Disneyland or Disney California Adventure may close early for events such as Pride Nite. In June, Disneyland is scheduled to host Pride Nite on select evenings, including June 16 and June 18, resulting in earlier closures for that park on those nights.
If you’re curious about everything happening during your visit, the Disney Parks Blog is a fantastic resource. Its
Calendar, Events, and Offers guide provides a helpful overview of festivals, after-hours events, and special entertainment. During your June trip, you’ll also be visiting while Disneyland continues celebrating its 70th anniversary, with special touches and entertainment offerings adding extra sparkle. Nighttime spectaculars like Wondrous Journeys, along with the return of Paint the Night and the cheerful Celebrate Happy Cavalcade, help make the resort feel especially festive.
Faith, I hope this helps you plan your June visit with confidence and gives you a clearer picture of what’s happening during your stay. If any other questions come up as you fine-tune your plans, please don’t hesitate to stop by and visit us again here at planDisney.
Have a magical visit filled with unforgettable moments!
