Ahoy Anna Lisa!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am thrilled you sailed by today to talk about Castaway Cay! I always try to stow away on this amazing island oasis and start my life as a swash buckling pirate, but they never let me stay...
Snorkeling at
Castaway Cay is a great way to spend part of your magical day on this beach. Life jackets are available in children's sizes on the family beach, and inflatable life vests are available for adults when snorkeling. I can tell you the inflatable vests can hold an adult afloat. You can inflate them to the level that makes you the most comfortable in the water. Typically, I do not inflate mine much, if at all, as I am a stronger swimmer and enjoy diving under the water to get a closer look. My husband is not as strong of a swimmer (and is six foot six inches, so a larger man), inflates his all the way and has no trouble snorkeling using one.
Castaway Cay is one of my favorite places to snorkel with my family thanks to all the safety measures Disney Cruise Line has taken to ensure everyone can enjoy their time safely. The lagoon is protected by a natural barrier that keeps the water calm most days, making it easy for even novice swimmers to enjoy snorkeling. Lifeguards are also set up along the lagoon in the event a guest needs assistance while snorkeling.
You can
reserve your snorkeling equipment ahead of your trip to save you some time, or rent once you arrive at Castaway Cay. You may also bring your own equipment if you prefer, but Disney Cruise Line's equipment is easy to use if you prefer to leave room in your bags for all the treasure you find during your sailing.
Have fun making memories! Angie
