We are looking at going to Disneyland for the Halloween season, but we want to do paint the night also. The time frame says paint the night will run until summer 26 but it doesn’t say if it is running during Halloween or even Christmas.

Hi Jonathan, and welcome to planDisney! September is a wonderful time to visit the Disneyland Resort – the weather should be great, and spooky fun will have materialized for Halloween Time.

I totally understand why you're interested in seeing Paint the Night. This electrifying spectacle, featuring more than one million colorful LED lights, is making a much-anticipated return as part of the 70th Anniversary Celebration. I last saw this parade back in 2015 and remember being completely captivated by its vibrant floats, glowing lights, and catchy soundtrack.

But here's the scoop, Jonathan: It's still a little early to know if Paint the Night will continue during Halloween Time and the Holidays. No official announcement has been made, although we do know that select shows will temporarily pause to make way for seasonal entertainment offerings. For example, I expect Halloween Screams will return to Disneyland Park during the spooky season, temporarily replacing Wondrous Journeys.

The Hours & Events Calendar is updated on a rolling basis to reflect park information as far as six weeks out. That means you should see schedules for Halloween Time, which is set to return August 22, 2025, around two months from now.

There is a Paint the Night dining package available at Plaza Inn, which combines a tasty meal with a voucher for reserved parade viewing. This is currently listed on the website as available through August 21, 2025, so that may be a clue about whether or not the parade will pause for Halloween Time. However, that won't be confirmed until there is an announcement or if the information is added to the Hours & Events Calendar. I recommend keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog and Disneyland’s Instagram page for announcements.

Here’s something to mark on your calendar: the Oogie Boogie Bash will return to California Adventure this year, with multiple dates in September. This after-hours, separately ticketed event will get you in the Halloween spirit, with exclusive entertainment, immersive treat trails, and rare Character sightings. It’s a fan-favorite for good reason and might be a nice addition to your trip.

Jonathan, I hope your visit to the Disneyland Resort is full of festive cheer, smiles, good food, and magical moments. Please reach out with any other questions – we're always happy to help here at planDisney.
