Hi there, Joel!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney as you prepare to
leave today and enter the world of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy. As Mary Poppins musically reminded us,
in every job that must be done there is an element of fun, and happily, planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation (even on short notice) is no exception to this rule. Of course, the first step in planning is to decide when you'll visit (check!), so now you'll need to choose where exactly your magical adventure will lead your family of Mouseketeers. Let's talk theme parks!
I'm so happy to hear that you're prioritizing Magic Kingdom Park during your visit! There's nothing quite like that first glimpse of Cinderella Castle as you're strolling down Main Street, U.S.A. with bubbles, balloons, and the scent of baked goods floating on the breeze. Your little ones will truly believe they have entered their own fairytale! Whether your family is filled with fans of happily ever afters or swashbuckling adventures, thrill rides or chill rides, Magic Kingdom is great for kids — and kids at heart — of all ages.
As someone whose favorite Walt Disney World theme park changes as often as Maui's chosen form, I typically utilize the Park Hopper option of my theme park ticket so that I can visit them all - no matter how long the vacation. Of course, I'm aware that park hopping with tiny Mouseketeers can be a bit of an endeavor, so you might find it easier to stick to one theme park each day. With this in mind, when deciding which other theme parks you'd like to visit, you'll need to consider what aspects of Disney magic most captivate your little ones.
EPCOT is a personal favorite of mine because you can explore the depths of sea, space, and your imagination all before lunch! It's a park filled with relaxing rides through greenhouses, aquariums, and foreign countries while also featuring thrilling journeys through space. It's a great place to see Princesses as you travel the World Showcase, and there's even an interactive water feature inspired by Moana you won't want to miss. Your visit happens to fall during the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts, and I think your kiddos will love the colorful foods and chalk art. There's also a fun scavenger hunt taking place throughout the theme park that would be a great way to get some wiggles out while you enjoy the tasty eats.
Disney's Hollywood Studios has incredibly immersive areas dedicated to Toy Story and Star Wars, so if anyone in your family has ever dreamed of piloting the Millennium Falcon, brushing shoulders with Storm Troopers, or shrinking down to the size of a toy and hopping aboard the back of Slinky Dog, then this theme park will be a dream come true. Here you'll also find beloved Disney Jr. characters leading a dance party as well as a Frozen sing-a-long!
While there aren't as many attractions at Disney's Animal Kingdom, my niece just visited and adored walking (and riding) on the wild side with animal sightings on Kilimanjaro Safaris, Gorilla Falls Exploration Trail, and Maharahaj Jungle Trek (keep your eye peeled for Bakso the baby tiger here). Animal Kingdom is also home to incredible shows inspired by The Lion King and Finding Nemo.
There's so much to see and do at Walt Disney World, Joel, so I hope this information helps you decide what will work best for your family! If you'd like more specific suggestions or tips. Feel free to stop back by!
Thinking Happy Thoughts,
Lizzie
