I was looking on the daily calendar for MK to try to plan what we don't want to miss. However, the "Judge's Tent" and "Ariel's Grotto" are each only listed once. Does this mean this is the only time characters will be at these places?

I agree that this part of the calendar is confusing. Both the Judge's Tent and Ariel's Grotto are all-day character greeting events. The time listed on the Magic Kingdom calendar is just the start time. You can expect that both these attractions will open at 10:00 a.m. and run continuously throughout the day. The exact end time varies, but it is generally until at least 5:00 p.m. if not later. Take a look at the free Times Guide when you enter the park and you will get the complete details for the week of your visit.

Have a wonderful trip to Walt Disney World!
