We are looking at a cruise out of Miami on the Dream and adding a vacation at Walt Disney World Resort afterwards. I realize the distance is 250 miles, wondering if you had suggestions on transportation from the Port to our WDW Resort?

    Ahoy Juliann!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I always love helping out a fellow Georgian with future cruise plans. Disney Cruise Line has been using the Port of Miami the past few years for the Disney Magic and Disney Wonder at various times throughout the year (currently, the Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy sail year-round out of Port Canaveral). It's a beautiful city to cruise out of as you float down the causeway with the gorgeous Miami skyline in the background. When you arrive back to this spectacular city, you are only three and a half hours away from the most magical place on earth, so I completely understand wanting to turn this vacation into a land and sea adventure! In my opinion, your best option is to rent a car from Alamo. Alamo has several locations on the Walt Disney World Resort property including the Car Care Center located just outside Disney's Magic Kingdom park. Alamo runs shuttles from Port of Miami to their Miami airport location so once your crew disembarks you can hop on for a quick 20 minute ride over to pick up your car. Be sure to plan ahead for tolls on the way and budget around $20.00 just to be safe. Hours can vary at the Alamo Rent A Car agencies on Walt Disney World Resort property so be sure to check those before you leave so there are no surprises. Shuttles are also available at these locations so drop off will be a breeze. It may be a good idea to stop by your resort hotel first so the non-driver and the rest of the family can go ahead and check-in and not have to worry about the luggage on the shuttle. If you want to contact Alamo, their Miami airport location's phone number is (888) 826-6893 and their Walt Disney World Car Care Center number is (407) 824-3470. Their website is www.alamo.com.
I hope I've steered you in the right direction, Juliann! If you need further assistance with your planning, please let us know!
    Have a magical day!
