Hi James!
Thank you for bringing your question to
planDisney!
Fall is a wonderful time to visit Walt Disney World! When my kids were younger, we would visit in mid-September every year! The crowds are low, the weather is mild, and you can enjoy the autumn decorations! I adore the Halloween decorations throughout the parks, especially the Mickey Mouse-shaped pumpkins! During this time of year, you can also enjoy the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival! There are outdoor kitchens set up around the World Showcase and you can enjoy delicious treats around the world! While the menu has not yet been released for 2022, a staple that I've seen every year, and love, is poutine in Canada.
There are also several restaurants in Walt Disney World that get me in the fall mood!
Liberty Tree Tavern in
Disney's Magic Kingdom serves turkey, mashed potatoes, and other traditional Thanksgiving foods. You can also get turkey, macaroni and cheese, and stuffing at
Garden Grill in
EPCOT.
Traditionally, there have also been Halloween-themed events that occur during this time. Last year, the
Disney After Hours Boo Bash offered trick-or-treating, Halloween Cavalcades, and special treats! Prior to 2020, Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party was the signature Halloween event! While there has not been an announcement regarding when and if these events are returning this fall, please keep an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog or revisit
planDisney for updates!
As far as the crowds are concerned, I have found that September, specifically after Labor Day, is the absolute best for crowds in the parks. Since many schools start after Labor Day, many Guests are not visiting the parks during this time. As such, if you have the flexibility to attend the third or fourth week of September, I highly recommend it!
I hope you have a magical vacation!
Magically,
Stacy
