Looking in to booking our 1st family DW vacation. We have 2 boys ages 7 & 5 and am wondering it makes more sense to stay in one of the Art of Animation Family suites or deluxe resort. Price is about the same- Husband likes FS but I prefer deluxe resor

    Hi Carol,

I love first trips to Walt Disney World! My children were 2 & 4 when we went for our first trip.

Here are some things to consider when deciding on a resort. You still might need a stroller. When we vacationed last Easter with my power-walking 6 year old niece, we needed to get her a stroller. Disney is huge especially Epcot which is really two parks and Animal Kingdom which is built with cobblestone paths.

Also, when are you touring? If the summer or hotter months, will you want to take a break and go back to your resort? Would you want to go back to your resort anyway midday?

The advantage of a deluxe is you can quickly get to two parks in minutes. (Think monorail resorts for Magic Kingdom or Boardwalk/Yacht Club/Beach Club for Epcot & Disney's Hollywood Studios) This makes it easy to come back and forth to the resort for breaks and makes a stroller easier to move.

The advantage to the family suite is that you have two bathrooms, a kitchenette and separate sleeping areas. This makes it easier to put the kids to bed and then have adult time if you want.

Wherever you decide, I recommend not get a park hopper pass and sticking to your children's schedule. Finally, make a reservation for table service meal for lunch or dinner to gauge if you can go on touring or opt out for the day.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
