Hello! We are looking to book rooms at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. What is the best room to book in order to view animals from the room. We'll have 2 adults and 2 kids, 14 and 10 years old.

Jambo, Ashley, and welcome to planDisney! Animal Kingdom Lodge is such a unique place to stay, with its relaxing views of the animals and action-packed activity schedule!

For the best chance of seeing animals right from your balcony, you’ll want to book a Savanna View room. These accommodations overlook one of the many savannas at Animal Kingdom Lodge. You might even be able to spot a giraffe right from the comfort of bed! Just keep in mind that the specific animals can vary by day and which savanna you’re facing. I like to request a room on a low floor to be closer to the animals, but I know others prefer to be on a high floor for the sweeping views of the incredible savannas. Once you book your stay, you can add a room request by calling the Tickets and Hotel Reservations phone number. While room requests aren’t guaranteed, Cast Members will do their best to grant your wish!

No matter which savanna you overlook, or if you decide to stay in a Water or Resort View room, you’ll find many areas where all guests can view the animals near the lobby and pool areas. There are also windows throughout the hallways that look out onto the savannas for additional animal spotting opportunities.

I’m also excited to see that you’re planning a stay during the merriest time of the year! The last time I visited Animal Kingdom Lodge in December, there was a majestic Christmas tree and an animal gingerbread display in the lobby that’s sure to get you in the holiday spirit! Check out Disney Parks Blog for more details on all the seasonal happenings.

When you get to Animal Kingdom Lodge, I’d recommend taking a picture of the activity schedule, which is usually posted in the lobby. There’s so much to do without even leaving the resort hotel! My nephew loves the String of Memories Activities, where you can learn about animal behavior and earn different beads throughout the week. Not only is it educational, but you get a fun souvenir to bring home. And one of my personal favorites is the Jambo House Lobby Art Tour. Did you know that Animal Kingdom Lodge has the largest private collection of African art outside of Africa?!

Your family might also enjoy embarking on a Starlight Safari, where you can go on a nighttime adventure through the savannas at Animal Kingdom Lodge! As a Disney Resort hotel guest, you can book this Enchanting Extra 60 days in advance of check-in for your whole trip (up to a 10-night stay).

I hope you have a roaring good stay at this special resort hotel next year! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
