We are looking to book at a deluxe hotel but can not afford $500/night. We are looking at either the Wilderness Lodge or Animal Kingdom Lodge. Which resort do you prefer? We are a family of four with a 3yr old and an 18 month old.

Nicole, these are both great choices!

Wilderness Lodge is our vacation club property and we love the rustic resort, tucked away amongst the trees. Although the resort appears secluded, it is an easy boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom. The WL has an amazing lobby with a towering fireplace and there are two delicious restaraunts on property, the family fun Whispering Canyon Cafe and the fine dining featured at Artist Point, as well as a counter service at the Roaring Fork. Our boys loved the swimming pool nestled in between rocks and a waterfall that runs from the lobby all the way into the pool.

Animal Kingdom Lodge is a unique resort experience that transports you to Africa. It is home to two amazing restaraunts, Boma which is a buffet and Jiko, which both specialize in African flavored choices that are out of this world. The Mara is the quick service option at this resort. The big draw here is the view. How often can you sit on your balcony and watch zebras or giraffes go strolling by. The opportunity to enjoy the animals makes this a truly magical location.

Both resorts will offer your family of four plenty of room and similar amenities like delicious dining, pools, arcade, lounge, the Disney transportation system and all the extra Disney magic. Our family enjoys the Wilderness Lodge just a little bit more. The views at Animal Kingodm Lodge are breath-taking however we enjoy the proximity to Magic Kingdom from Wilderness Lodge. Given its location, Animal Kingdom Lodge is a longer ride to all of the parks except for Animal Kingdom and we have found the difference in travel times to be an important factor to us. We also enjoy the closeness to Fort Wilderness, (accessible by boat or bus) which offers some great family fun like nightly campfires and movies with Chip and Dale and the ever popular Mickey's Backyard BBQ.

Either location you select will be great so I would decide if you prefer the animals or the woods. Good luck, it is a hard choice!
