Welcome to planDisney, Allison! I can also say, "Welcome home!" soon since you'll be arriving at
Walt Disney World Resort in the flutter of a butterfly wing. The
EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival is one of my favorite times to visit, so let's look at how you can eat around the world on your trip.
My family eats a plant-based diet, so I have some ideas for you. Walt Disney World Resort does a wonderful job of labeling ingredients, and my first tip is to ask Cast Members if you have any questions about a dish. I've found that most Outdoor Kitchens will provide an ingredient list when requested, and a chef is typically on hand to address any concerns.
I know you aren't necessarily looking for plant-based items, but that's a quick way to tell if a dish is dairy-free. Look for the green plant icon beside a menu item or the "Plant Based" label in the ingredients. Most festival food booths have a sandwich board menu out front, so I usually peruse that list to see what options are free of meat and dairy.
You can also review this festival's
Disney Eats: Foodie Guide. It lists the dishes by location and specifies which are plant-based in bold type. I can't wait to try the Florida Strawberry Shortcake and the Impossible Farmhouse Meatball! A favorite from last year is back, the Avocado Toast at Brunchcot. You have to try it!
You can also check out the
Allergy-Friendly Options for the festival for a comprehensive allergy list. You can skim the list of allergens for each item, and I see many items for milk allergies. The Coconut Tres Leches Cake is dairy-free, and I can personally vouch for its deliciousness! I also enjoyed the Potato Pancakes at Bauernmarkt.
My family is looking forward to the
Garden Rocks Concert Series next month. I booked a dining package at Garden Grill Restaurant because they offer a plant-based family-style meal. We plan to enjoy a filling breakfast with Farmer Mickey and pals, and then, using our voucher, we'll catch the Plain White Tees concert at 5:30. You can
check availability for your dates, or my tip is to stop by Regal Eagle Smokehouse when it opens for a walk-up dining package.
Allison, I know your visit will be full of fun and flowers. I hope I've provided some tools to find a feast fit for a dairy-free princess! Please
stop by planDisney anytime.
Magic awaits,
Elaine
