When looking at the Animal Kingdom park hours for 9 May 2019, it says the park closes at 8.30pm but I'm confused because Rivers of Light is showing at 8.45pm. Also, do you know when they will release the times for Tree of Life Awakenings?

Hi, Joe! Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thanks so much for stopping by with your question. Sounds like you have a wild adventure planned at Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park! Enjoying Rivers of Light is a beautiful way to end your day at the park. This celebration of nature is shown after sunset, often near or shortly after the park has "closed" for the evening. A quick thing to note about park closure - the posted time of when the park closes means that the queues for attractions close and will not allow any additional guests. However, many merchandise locations will continue to operate for a while and there may be additional entertainment offerings that are planned around the same time. Rivers of Light and Fantasmic! at Disney's Hollywood Studios sometimes do have scheduled performances right at or just beyond park closure. While you may not be able to hop in line for an attraction after the park's closing time, you are welcome to enjoy the remaining entertainment for the evening. However, do keep an eye on the Park Hours as the hours for the day may be extended!

The schedule for Tree of Life Awakenings is usually announced just a couple of weeks in advance. Its timing is dependent on sundown as darkness is really needed to enjoy this amazing show on the Tree of Life. Be sure to keep an eye on its page in the coming weeks to find its beginning time, which I expect will be around 8:30 p.m. This show is made up of several projections scenes that each last just a few minutes. A new scene begins every 10-15 minutes. I find the best viewing spots to be about halfway between the Tree of Life and the bridge that leads to Discovery Island.

I hope this helps you plan your magical adventure! Please let us know if you have any other questions!
