    How long does it take to walk to each park from the different resorts? Does the monorail go directly to the resort or do you have to walk to it? Trying to decide the best resort for a future stay with 2AD, 5, 3, & 1yo kids. Thanks!

    Hi Jamie,

    Walt Disney World in total is huge, nearly 40 square miles in total, about the size of San Francisco. A few of the hotels are within walking distance of one, or possibly two, of the four Disney theme parks. To access the other parks there is a massive network of free transportation involving monorails, buses, and boats. All of which you'll likely have to take at some point during your vacation.

    Transportation times range from a five minute walk from the Beach Club to Epcot or a three minute monorail ride from the Grand Floridian to the Magic Kingdom, up to a 20 minute bus ride from the Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Magic Kingdom.

    When my kids were small, we often stayed at resorts directly on the monorail line (Contemporary, Grand Floridian, Polynesian) because we like that we could roll our strollers directly onto the monorail. But in addition to transportation, you should also consider dining options, price, and pools in your decision equation.
