We are long time Disney park fans but would like to cruise. However, we want vacation to be about family time & looking at a cruise, it seems that my kids/teens will be away from us in different areas. We want to be together. Thoughts?

Ahoy there, and welcome to planDisney, Danielle,

Sounds like a first-time family excursion at sea is happening later this fall! I'm so excited for you all to experience this sailing together. Since you're already a Disney Parks family, then you will feel right at home aboard one of Disney Cruise Line's vessels. I appreciate that you want to stay together for the trip and I'm happy to share more about onboard activities. While my kids have aged out of the youth club scene, I know that my planDisney pal, JoVonn G., has shared that her son enjoys the activities and making new friends on the ship!

There are so many great onboard activities for all ages upon a Disney Cruise sailing. That's probably one of my favorite things – the options and flexibility. Kids, tweens, and teens do have youth clubs on the ship to hang out with each other, learn and explore, and make new friends. These are supervised areas and parents can "get away" for some adult time elsewhere on the ship. However, attendance in these areas is not required, and your family can stay together as long or as little as you'd like. There's plenty of family entertainment onboard as well, including multiple pools, deck parties, first-run movie screenings, live shows, and even karaoke and trivia nights! The important thing is that your family enjoys making core memories upon your sailing, together - exactly how you prefer.

Some youth club areas, like Disney's Oceaneer Lab, have Open House hours where guests of all ages can visit and do activities together. This may be an option for your family if you're sailing on Disney Wish, Disney Magic, Disney Fantasy, or Disney Wonder. I recommend at least checking them out and learning more about the activities offered. You can pre-register your children or register on embarkation day once aboard the ship.

I hope that information sheds more insight on what you can do on your sailing, Danielle. I know that it will be a magical time together, and it will open up a whole new world of Disney travel! Make sure to download the Navigator app and log in so you can take advantage of notifications for check-in, activity signup, etc. Of course, if you have any other questions, please reach out again and we're happy to help!

    Bon Voyage!
