How long is the sail away party? Do we go straight to dinner for main seating?

Welcome aboard, Heather! The first day onboard a Disney Cruise Line ship is so exciting! From the moment you set foot in the atrium lobby as the Cast Members announce your family name and applaud your arrival, you'll experience so many magical moments!

Once you board, you'll be able to head straight to lunch then relax and explore the ship a bit, get settled in your stateroom, and then be off to the mandatory lifeboat drill. Once that is done, my family and I head straight up to the pool deck to get a good spot for the Sail Away Deck Party. It's one of our favorite events and a really great way to kick off what will certainly be a magical vacation.

Be sure to download the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App to your mobile devices before you arrive at port. This can be used onboard to keep in the loop of all the activities and events, ship map, menus, texting between other guests, and more. It's a must-have for sure! Check that for the exact time of your Sail Away Party, but typically, the Guest Assembly Drill is at 4:00 p.m., followed by the 4:30 Sail Away Party, which lasts about 45 minutes. That gives you plenty of time to swing back to your stateroom to change for the early dinner if you're in that seating. And if you have the late dinner, you've got even more time to change, wander a bit, then attend the first of the nightly Broadway-style shows before heading to dinner. Those guests who have the early dinner will get to enjoy the second performance that night after dinner.

You're in for one amazing cruise, Heather! Please stop back with any other questions as you continue to plan! We're very happy to help!
