How long does it take to get from the Polynesian Resort to the Animal Kingdom or Animal Lodge? What are the transportation options?

    Leon,

Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!

So you are going from Disney's Polynesian Village Resort to Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, and possibly Disney's Animal Kingdom Lodge? You have a lot of exotic fun ahead of you!

On our resort day on a recent visit, one of my daughters and I did exactly this. She wanted to explore the Animal Kingdom Lodge, try out the naan bread service at Sanaa, and explore the animal viewing areas. But how do you go from your island paradise to the savannahs of the Animal Kingdom? Here are my suggestions.

To get to the Animal Kingdom Theme Park
From your hotel, you can catch a bus to the park. That is the most direct route and your only real option. Estimated bus travel time: 20 minutes, not including any waiting for a bus to arrive at your pickup location.

To get to the Animal Kingdom Lodge
You could take a bus from your hotel to Disney Springs, and then transfer to a bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge. However, I would recommend this alternative instead, assuming you are not traveling well before the theme parks are opening for the day, or after they are closing. I would hop on the monorail and ride around to the Magic Kingdom station. From there you can walk over to the bus depot to catch a bus to the resort. Estimated travel time: 55 minutes via either route, not including any waiting for a bus to arrive at your pickup locations.

    BONUS TIP #1
The bus to the Animal Kingdom Lodge will make stops at both the Kidani Village section, and the Jambo House section. Just know ahead of time which one you want to visit. HINT: Jambo House is what most consider the 'original' Animal Kingdom Lodge.

    BONUS TIP #2
Disney has been updating their bus fleet, and you will find them to be a great way to get around. Many now have USB charging ports placed throughout the bus for those cell phone battery emergencies!

Please feel free to write me back directly if you have any follow-up questions.

    Have a Magical Vacation!
