Jambo Laurie, and welcome to planDisney!
Tusker House is one of my top character meals with its mix of African-inspired food and familiar favorites (don’t miss the banana bread pudding for dessert!). And meeting Donald Duck and friends in their explorer outfits is a fun start to the day!
In my experience, restaurants will generally hold your reservation for about 15 minutes but that can vary based on the specific eatery and how busy they are that day. You’ve still got time before your visit in June, so I’d suggest periodically checking the website to see if you can get a slightly later reservation time. I always have the most luck in the week leading up to my trip, when lots of people are adjusting their plans. That way you can have a more leisurely morning as you make your way into
Animal Kingdom.
I just love the relaxing and adventurous vibes in this park! Some of my must-dos are watching
Festival of the Lion King (my favorite show in all of Disney World!),
getting a picture with both Mickey and Minnie together, and riding a banshee on
Flight of Passage. This ride is really popular, so I’ll usually buy
Lightning Lane Single Pass or keep an eye on the wait time throughout the day. Sometimes you can catch a shorter line mid-afternoon or right before the park closes.
Another gem is
Winged Encounters, a short show with breathtaking appearances by the resident macaws! It takes place several times a day in front of the
Tree of Life so don’t miss your chance to see these amazing birds.
Speaking of the Tree of Life, I always try to spend a little time walking around the
Discovery Island Trails near the tree. It’s easy to miss them while you’re going between rides and shows all day, but it’s such a peaceful spot with lots of animals to see.
I hope you have a roaring good time at Animal Kingdom this summer! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to visit us again at planDisney.
