Welcome to planDisney, Shanda! We're glad you stopped by with your question!
Mickey and I are sorry that you have to cancel your upcoming vacation to
Walt Disney World Resort, but if there's one thing we've learned from 2021, it's that travel plans are always subject to change. It's happened to me before, too, and it's always disappointing. However, we're here to help!
I chatted with a Walt Disney World Reservation Agent today, and she told me that you can expect your deposit back in the original payment method in 7-10 business days. However, volume is especially busy these days, so it may take one to two billing cycles to show up on your card. If you
cancel a package more than 30 days before arrival, there are no cancellation penalties unless Travel Protection is included. For a room-only reservation, you may cancel 5 or more days prior to your arrival to avoid penalty.
If you still need to cancel, you can do this online by logging into your
My Disney Experience Account and clicking on "My Reservations." There, you should see a link that says "Cancel Reservation." If you cannot cancel your reservation online, you'll see a message indicating that you'll need to cancel over the phone instead- call (407) 934-7639.
Make sure to also cancel any other plans, including
dining reservations. You can also change the date on your theme park tickets by going to the My Tickets tab in the My Disney Experience mobile app. Select "Change Tickets" and follow the on-screen directions. You will be shown options to change the ticket type, dates, and the number of days. If there is a price difference between your previous selection and the new one, you'll be asked to pay the difference at check out.
I hope this makes it a little easier for you, Shanda! If there's anything else you need, including creating new plans, remember, "You've got a friend in me!"
