We are local and have dinner reservations at the Grand Floridian tomorrow but want to end up at MK for the fireworks. If we park at the ticket center - what is the fastest way to get to GF and what should we take to get to MK from there?

Hi Lydia, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. It sounds like you have a magical evening planned tonight, and I’d be happy to help with the logistics!

If you park at the Transportation & Ticket Center (TTC), the fastest way to get to dinner would be to take the Resort Monorail three stops to the Grand Floridian. Make sure you don’t get on the Express or EPCOT Monorails, which only go to the theme parks.

When you’re done with dinner, you have a few options to hop over to Magic Kingdom. You can get back on the monorail, or do something a little different! If I’m at Grand Floridian, I usually end up walking to Magic Kingdom, which is just under one mile. The walking path is especially nice at night since there’s limited shade during the daytime. When you exit the Main Building on the resort side (not towards the parking lot), make a left towards the Convention Center and Sago Cay building and you’ll start to see signs for the Magic Kingdom walkway.

If you’d prefer not to walk, there’s also a water taxi between the Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom, which is the most relaxing way to get there! Because the boat also stops at the Polynesian Resort, I find it can take about the same amount of time as walking (or longer), depending on how long you have to wait for the boat to arrive. But a big bonus is sometimes you can see the Electrical Water Pageant from the water in the evening! Check the My Disney Experience app to see when it’ll be near the Grand Floridian (search Electrical Water Pageant and you’ll see pages for the different resorts with the times). My fingers are crossed that it lines up with your boat ride!

When you get to Magic Kingdom, you’ll probably want to stake out a spot for Happily Ever After. I like to stand near Main Street Bakery where you can see both Cinderella Castle and the projections on the buildings down Main Street, U.S.A. It gives you a nice view of the entire show!

I hope you have a pixie-dusted evening tonight at the Most Magical Place on Earth. If you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney!
