Hi there, Mayara,
Thanks for bringing your question our way! I'm happy to discuss the
changes coming to the Lightning Lane experience at Walt Disney World Resort.
As you've seen, Disney Genie+ Service will be rebranded to
Lightning Lane Multi Pass beginning July 24, 2024. This date will also mark the start of pre-planning capabilities, something I'm very excited about!
Disney Resorts Collection hotel guests will have the option to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and schedule 3 initial attraction selections for each day of their visit, up to 7 days in advance of check-in. Guests staying off-property will have access beginning 3 days before their ticket start date. Lightning Lane Single Pass will follow the same timing, allowing guests to purchase up to two eligible experiences per ticketed day, from a selection of the most in-demand attractions. These purchases can be made in addition to or instead of Multi Pass purchases.
It's my understanding that purchasing and planning access will
only be available via the My Disney Experience Mobile App. As such, purchases will be limited to guests physically in the United States. Recent announcements have indicated that Canadian guests may continue using their app to plan and purchase when these changes go into effect, but all other international visitors will need to be within the US to purchase Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Lightning Lane Single Pass experiences.
I know this might be frustrating, but I'm hopeful all guests will enjoy the ability to pre-plan versus waiting until 7 a.m. each morning to review pricing and make selections. This will be a welcome change for my family as the scramble to join Virtual Queues, review return times, and secure Individual Lightning Lane experiences all within a few minutes of waking up was not always the most magical start to our day. I understand that you might not arrive until your check-in date, but rest assured you'll be able to review pricing and availability once you've landed safely in the US. Even better, on-site guests and those with multi-day tickets can make selections for the length of their admission, up to 14 days. This means you'll still get a jump start on planning even if you have to wait until you're stateside to get started.
Now Mayara, this is the most recent information available, but keep in mind that things are always subject to change. We may see new updates as the launch date approaches. I recommend keeping a close eye on the
official social channels and Disney Parks Blog so you're aware of any additional updates.
I hope this helped! Please come back to
planDisney with more questions. We're always happy to help maximize the magic on your next visit.
Magic and memories,
Amy
