Hi -My little boy (3) has Down Syndrome and I have read about kids with autism on your site - it states that you have to bring a doctor's note to bring to the guest relations counter. Is this true with Down Syndrome as well

There are varying levels of Guest Assistance Pass available at WDW. Doctors notes are not required to get a Guest Assistance Pass, however in circumstances where a guests' challenge might not be readily apparent (such as with autism) a doctor's note can be helpful to the Disney staff in determining what type of assistance a guest might need. The challenges of a Down Syndrome may be more quickly ascertainable than those with autism. Again, a doctor's note is not necessary, but it never hurts to have one.

A great resource for you is a book called PassPorter's Open Mouse for WaltDisney World and the Disney Cruise Line. This sells for approximately$20 and is available through amazon.com and many larger bookstores.Open Mouse gives incredibly detailed information for Disney guests withany sort of challenge, from anxiety to allergies and everything inbetween, including Down Syndrome, If you get thisbook before your trip, you'll be able get your plan together in advanceof your arrival so you'll be completely prepared to have a greatvacation.

If you have more questions, you might want to direct them specifically to Moms Panelist Darcie (you can do this throughout the Meet the Moms button at the top of the page) who is back on the Panel through June. She has traveled to WDW many times with her four children, one of whom has Down Syndrome.

    Good luck with your planning!
