Hi Lindsey! My husband has Platinum ChEAR for the WDW Marathon. If he doesn't get to Race Retreat early/by 5:30, what time afterward can he take the buses there (they close the roads and bus service for a bit, right)? We'll be at AKL. Thank you!

    Hi Emily!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I'm assuming you'll be the one running the Walt Disney World Marathon so first and foremost congratulations for taking on that challenge!

From past years of the Walt Disney World Marathon, event transportation has ran from the host resorts from 3 to 5 AM and then again from 7 AM to 2 PM. For guests staying on the Resort Monorail line, this has started for runners at 3 AM and spectators at 5 AM continuously through the day. Since you will be staying at Animal Kingdom Lodge, you'll need to rely on the bus service so if he is not on the bus by 5 AM, it won't be available again until 7 AM, pending there are no major changes this year. We will have more specific information once the Digital Event Guide is released roughly a month or so before the actual race.

If he doesn't want to catch the bus quite that early, but obviously would like to be on the move before 7 AM, I'd recommend a ride sharing service, like Uber or Lyft. I have found that rates within Walt Disney World Resort property are very reasonable and with a busy time like Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, there will be plenty of drivers on the road!

Please come back and let me know if you have any other questions before your big race day in January!
