Hi Lindsey! How do friends/family get to the spectator spots to cheer on a runner? We are booked on-site: Are buses an option? Do we have to drive? Are there potties (2yo and 4yo)?

    Hi Jennifer!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. Any running event is a challenge, so it's great to hear you'll have some friends and family chEARing you on as you go!

If you are staying at one of the Walt Disney World Resort hotels, race weekend transportation is certainly provided for both runners and spectators! The only variety you'll see is in the form of transportation as it can vary between each race weekend based on where you are staying and where the viewing area is. For a large majority of hotels and races it will be buses provided to get your support team to where they want to go. More details on this are provided for each specific race weekend as the dates approach. The only other option is if your resort is on the Resort Monorail line. In this case, the monorail has historically opened up early enough to accommodate these Guests.

In reference to driving yourself, runDisney actually encourages that runners and spectators use the transportation provided over driving themselves. There are usually significant road closures that can affect the routes your GPS may be directing you to take, but the runDisney transportation usually has it's own dedicated lanes to prevent traffic from affecting the Guests on their buses.

For restrooms, it can also depend on the viewing area. If your race takes you through the Magic Kingdom, the park restrooms are usually open for spectators to use. If you are at a start or finish line, which is usually in a parking lot, the restrooms will be port-a-potties. I imagine the tight squeeze may not be ideal for a 2 year old and parent so you may want to look into a ChEAR Squad package. This will have nicer restrooms dedicated to only ChEAR Squad members, in addition to beverages, designated seating and some awesome Disney swag!

Please let me know if you have any other questions!
