Hey there Jeff, and welcome back to planDisney!
It sounds like you're looking for the
best way to ring in the New Year ahead of
your upcoming stay during what I've observed to be the busiest, most popular time for hordes of holiday revelers to descend upon Walt Disney World Resort. You may be happy to hear that in my experience,
Disney's Hollywood Studios often tends to be less at risk of the rare occurrence of any theme park reaching capacity as the crowds congregate at
Magic Kingdom Park and especially
EPCOT for their New Year's Eve Fireworks and celebratory party atmosphere.
Now there's a popular misconception that the theme parks will never hit capacity nor restrict guests from entering no matter how busy it gets, but just this year I observed as a notification was sent out to guests looking to hop into Magic Kingdom Park that this was temporarily unavailable on a particularly popular day. As I mentioned, this is still a fairly rare occurrence and a Cast Member let me know that guests can always check with the folks at Guest Relations if they're concerned about this happening during a busy day; in this situation guests had been provided with a phone number to contact for updates on availability. (While there's a lower likelihood of this occurring at Disney's Hollywood Studios, there's really no telling whether or at what time of day this could potentially happen as it's really dependent on guest behavior and if for any reason thousands of folks decide to head there en masse as opposed to enjoying the festivities at the other theme parks.)
Last year there weren't any particularly major
New Year's Eve offerings necessarily promoted to take place at Disney's Hollywood Studios like the nighttime spectaculars elsewhere, but there was a DJ keeping a lively atmosphere at Center Stage with projections on the theatre facade of
Mickey & Minnie's Runaway Railway featuring various characters dancing along before the countdown. If it's anything like last year, guests were treated to some pyrotechnics a midnight before departing for the evening - and perhaps hearing the larger bursts coming from EPCOT. Here's hoping that you'll have an enjoyable and more easygoing evening as you bid farewell to 2024 from Disney's Hollywood Studios!
Wishing you a most excellent New Year's Eve wherever you end up!
