The lightsaber you build at Galaxy Edge, dies it fold down to fit in suitcase? How are you able to get it home?

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Ursula!

I’ve had the privilege to visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios twice now, and it is one of the most breathtaking Theme Park experiences I’ve ever had. Although I haven’t had the opportunity to build a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop - Handbuilt Lightsabers, I’ve seen tons of people walking around with theirs. Last night there were so many Guests who had their lightsabers on as they walked around Batuu, and the glow from each of them was super cool. I even saw one family with a lightsaber that lit up like a rainbow!

Unfortunately, these lightsabers don’t really collapse or fold down. You can remove the “blade” from the hilt, and my fellow Panelist Tony said he was able to fit his blade diagonally in the bottom of his suitcase, but just barely. If you’re worried about it fitting in your luggage (or the possibility of it being broken on your return flight home), you can have it shipped directly from Batuu to your home for a minimal fee. Just ask the cashier about your options when you check out. There are also special lightsaber carriers that you can wear like a crossbody bag for carrying your treasure around, too! These are also available for purchase at several shops within Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

I hope you have an excellent adventure during your upcoming Walt Disney World Resort vacation, Ursula! Please let us know if there’s anything else we can do to help you plan your visit to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
