Hi Tony, and welcome to planDisney! With only one more sleep until you’re at Disney World, let’s make sure you have all the information needed to maximize the magic.
My family loves using
Lightning Lane Passes to save time throughout our Disney day. After all, shorter lines mean more time to enjoy all the Mickey-shaped snacks!
There are three types of Lightning Lane Passes you can use to bypass select standby queues in the four theme parks: Multi Pass, Single Pass, and Premiere Pass.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass lets you pre-book three Lightning Lane attractions with specific return times. Once you scan into your first Lightning Lane entrance, you’ll be able to book another attraction, based on what’s available. You can repeat this process all day, holding up to three selections at a time. And, if you have a
park hopper ticket, you can use Multi Pass in more than one park on the same day! After scanning into your first Lightning Lane entrance (which has to be in the park you purchased Multi Pass for), you can book an attraction in a different park, if available.
Lightning Lane Single Pass is purchased for a specific attraction and return time for the most popular rides in each park, which aren’t included with Multi Pass. These attractions include Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON at Magic Kingdom, Guardians of the Galaxy at EPCOT, Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios, and my favorite, Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom.
The last type is Lightning Lane Premiere Pass, which is the most flexible. It’s purchased for a specific theme park and gives you one-time entry to all Lightning Lane attractions anytime during regular park hours. You don’t have to worry about keeping track of return times or booking your next Lightning Lane selection. Just focus on having fun!
Lightning Lane Passes can be purchased in the
My Disney Experience app, and since you're arriving tomorrow, you should be able to buy passes for at least part of your trip, if not your whole vacation.
Disney resort hotel guests can purchase Lightning Lane Passes up to seven days in advance of check-in for their whole stay (up to 14 days). All other guests can purchase up to three days ahead of their park visit (those with a multi-day date-based ticket can buy for the duration of their ticket at that time).
To buy passes in the app, go to ☰ in the lower right corner and select Lightning Lane Passes. Here you’ll see the three options and how much they cost for a given day.
Before I go, there’s one last thing I didn’t want you to miss. Lightning Lane Pass comes with complimentary digital downloads of select
attraction photos and videos. These action shots are some of my family’s favorite pictures from our Disney vacation. It’s also fun to compare them over the years, especially seeing my nephew go from being unsure his first time on Seven Dwarfs Mine Train to smiling and waving his arms in the air the next year!
I hope you have the best day ever at Disney World tomorrow! And if you have any other questions, we’re always here for you at planDisney.
