Hiya Welden,
Welcome to planDisney! I am so excited to help you plan your October vacation to the Most Magical Place on Earth!
There is so much to do at Walt Disney World Resort; the secret to success is managing your time. In fact, as my good friend, Lightning McQueen, would say, you will need a way to be “faster than fast, quicker than quick.” That is where Lightning Lanes come into play; these express entrances allow you to bypass the traditional standby queues and shorten your wait in line for select attractions and experiences. You can purchase three types of Lightning Lane passes for your vacation:
Lightning Lane Multi Pass, Lightning Lane Single Pass, and
Lightning Lane Premier Pass.
Want the convenience of planning out your visit and selecting times for when you can enjoy select attractions? Then Multi Pass is your ticket to speed! With a single Multi-Pass, you get to choose arrival windows for up to 3 attractions and experiences before your visit. Then, similarly to Genie+ service (if you are familiar with that), once you are in the park and start redeeming your experiences, you can schedule additional available attractions and map out the rest of your day. Did I mention that those additional attractions don’t have to be in the park you first made selections for? This is perfect if you have a park hopper ticket.
For the most popular attractions, like TRON Lightcycle / Run or Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, you will need an additional boost to bypass the standby lanes, which brings me to Lightning Lane Single Pass. Lightning Lane Single Pass is for attractions not available with Multi-Pass and can be purchased in addition to or in lieu of Multi-Pass. You can purchase up to two single passes per day.
Now, let’s say you want the ease of skipping the standby line without worrying about scheduled times. Then let me introduce you to our final Lightning Pass type, the Premier Pass. Premier Pass allows you one-time access to every attraction and experience with lightning lanes (including those only available with a single pass) in a single day at one park. Instead of having to check back to find a new selection or plan around an arrival window, you can join the fast tack whenever you want (subject to availability). Kachow, talk about being speed!
I hope this was helpful, Welden. Let’s check instant replay and quickly recap the three types of passes. Multi-Pass allows you to select arrival windows for multiple attractions and experiences (you start by choosing three in advance, and then you can select additional ones as you redeem those three in the park). Premier Pass removes the need for scheduling times by enabling you to access all the lightning lane attractions and experiences in a single park for one day. Finally, Single Pass is the perfect accompaniment to Multi-Pass, giving you access to the most popular attraction lightning lanes not available with Multi-Pass.
Before I let you go, I know this was a lot, but if you have any additional questions, you can always come back and visit us at planDisney. With all three Lightning Passes, you can purchase them up to 7 days in advance of your trip if you are a Guest of a Walt Disney Resort hotel (or
other select hotels) and 3 days in advance if you are not staying in one of the hotels, so you’ve got some time.
Happy Planning,
Ashley F.
