For lighting lane/rider switch with 5 adults+2 kids in the party. If we booked a lighting lane for the 5 adults, can we have 2 adults stay behind with the 2 kids, and then the 2 adults ride later with rider switch? Can that group of 2 still have a guest?

    Hi Leticia!

Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney!

You’re more than welcome to use Rider Switch with your Lightning Lane, but in this specific case, you may not need to!

Whenever I’m in a situation like this, if we get to the attraction early enough within the return time for both groups to make it through the Lightning Lane in time, we just split up into two groups and go through the Lightning Lane when we’re ready. If we get to the attraction toward the end of our return time, then we’ll chat with the Cast Member to set up Rider Switch. That way, we make sure everyone gets to use the Lightning Lane they have booked before it expires.

If you do decide to use Rider Switch with your Lightning Lane, the second group that experiences the attraction can only be a group of 2. So, that group would not be able to have an extra guest. If the second group is only 1 person, that person may bring someone else with them, so they don’t have to enjoy the attraction alone.

If you’re not quite sure whether or not to use Rider Switch based on the time you arrive at your Lightning Lane, don’t hesitate to ask the Cast Member at the entrance of the queue for advice and assistance. They’ll be happy to review your options!

I hope that helps! Feel free to come back and visit us with any other questions you have as you continue to plan your trip.
