Hi Melayna!
Thanks for bringing this question to planDisney!
Select attractions in each Disney World theme park offer
Lightning Lanes in addition to their regular standby queues. In order to bypass the standby queue and access the Lightning Lane, you will need to purchase a Lightning Lane service for your park day. There are three different services that can be purchased in advance of your trip, pending availability.
With Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you will get to choose 3 Lightning Lane pre-selections in advance. Then, throughout your park day, every time you scan into a Lightning Lane using Lightning Lane Multi Pass, you will be able to book any other available Lightning Lane. When booking your Lightning Lanes, you will choose an hour-long return time.
Any time during that return time, you’ll be able to scan into the Lightning Lane of the booked attraction using your
MagicBand, Key to the World Card, or
MagicMobile service on your phone. The Lightning Lanes are well-marked at each attraction, but if you're having trouble finding them, a Cast Member will be happy to help!
If you will be using Lightning Lane Multi Pass with a
park hopper ticket, you will want to purchase Multi Pass for the park in which you will book your 3 pre-selections. Then, after you scan into your first Lightning Lane of the day, you’ll be able to book any other available Lightning Lane in any other park.
While Lightning Lane Multi Pass includes a lot of attractions in the parks, there are 1-2 attractions in each park that are not a part of Lightning Lane Multi Pass but still offer Lightning Lanes. For those attractions, you can purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass, in which you will select your return time upon purchasing it. You can purchase up to two Lightning Lane Single Passes per park day, and they do not need to be in the same park if you have a valid park hopper.
Finally, there’s Lightning Lane Premier Pass! This is the most expensive option; however, it also makes navigating Lightning Lanes super easy. When using Lightning Lane Premier Pass, you will be able to scan into any available Lightning Lane once in one park throughout the day. There’s no need to book any return times. You just scan in whenever you’re ready!
You can find the
current list of Lightning Lane attractions in each park at this link.
All Lightning Lane services can be booked in advance by using your
My Disney Experience app, and each park day will be a separate transaction. Your Lightning Lane booking window will open at 7 AM Eastern, 7 days prior to your resort check-in date if you’re staying at a
Disney World resort or select good neighbor hotel. If you’re staying off property, your Lightning Lane booking window will open at 7 AM Eastern, 3 days prior to the start date of your ticket.
I hope that gives you some guidance! Feel free to come back and visit us with any follow-up questions if I didn’t go over something you were hoping for. We’re always happy to help!
