Hi Allison, and welcome to planDisney! With your visit coming up this week, I’d be happy to talk about purchasing
Lightning Lane Passes so you're all set for your trip. It’s a great way to bypass standby queues, lower your wait times for attractions, and really maximize your day!
You can purchase Lightning Lane Passes in the
My Disney Experience app by going to ☰ in the lower right corner and selecting Lightning Lane Passes (you might also see the option pop up on the home screen). If you’re staying at a
Disney resort hotel or other select hotels, you can purchase Lightning Lane Passes up to seven days before check-in for your entire stay (up to 14 days). Otherwise, all other guests can buy them up to three days ahead of their park visit (and those with a multi-day date-based ticket can purchase for the duration of their ticket).
You’ll have three options when you go to buy your Lightning Lane Passes: Multi Pass, Single Pass, and Premiere Pass.
Lightning Lane Multi Pass lets you pre-book three Lightning Lane attractions with specific return times. After scanning into your first Lightning Lane entrance, you can book another attraction, based on what’s available. You’ll be able to repeat this process throughout the day, holding up to three selections at a time. And, if you have a
park hopper ticket, you can use Multi Pass in more than one theme park on the same day! Once you scan into your first Lightning Lane attraction (in the park you purchased Multi Pass for), you’ll be able to book an attraction in a different park, based on availability.
Now, if you’re interested in the most popular rides, you’ll need Lightning Lane Single Pass. When you purchase this type of Lightning Lane Pass, you’ll choose an attraction and return time. These rides aren’t included in Multi Pass and include Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and TRON at Magic Kingdom, Guardians of the Galaxy at EPCOT, Rise of the Resistance at Hollywood Studios, and Flight of Passage at Animal Kingdom (my favorite attraction!).
The last option is Lightning Lane Premiere Pass and it's the most flexible. You’ll purchase it for a specific theme park, which gives you one-time entry to all Lightning Lane attractions during regular park hours. The best part is that you don’t need to think about remembering return times or making your next Lightning Lane selection. Just focus on riding as many attractions as possible!
Before I go, I wanted to share a couple of tips for making the most of your Lightning Lane Passes! First is about booking additional selections throughout the day with Multi Pass. If there isn’t any availability left for an attraction you haven’t ridden yet, keep checking back periodically. Other guests are always changing their plans, and sometimes I’ve had good luck snagging a return time that wasn’t previously available. And finally, don’t forget that Lightning Lane Passes come with complimentary digital downloads of
select attraction photos and videos. These are some of my family’s favorite pictures from our vacations and it's so easy to download them in the My Disney Experience app on the go!
I hope you have a magical time at Disney World this week! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
