Hi Shelley!
Welcome back to planDisney! November is a wonderful time for a visit to the
Walt Disney World Resort. The holiday decorations will be starting to appear, the weather is usually beautifully warm but not too hot, and crowd levels are typically reasonable in the weeks between Halloween and Thanksgiving.
Currently, with
pandemic safety measures at Disney Resort Collection Hotels,
Mousekeeping is a little different than what you may be used to from past visits. Between Guests, Mousekeeping takes more time with each room, and they do a more thorough, deep cleaning. During your stay, you will receive light housekeeping every other day, unless you elect not to receive housekeeping at all. Light housekeeping includes the removal of trash, replacement of towels, and a wipe down of the vanity in the bathroom. Cleaning of the toilet is not listed as part of the light cleaning process. Bedlinen is also not changed during a stay. If you have a particularly long trip and would like fresh bedlinen you can request the linen be brought to your room. But yes, you would need to change the sheets yourself. Our longest stay since the modified housekeeping began was only a week, and even with four kids in the room, the modified schedule worked well for our stay.
If you have an extended stay and want additional cleaning I have a few ideas. At this time, Disney is not offering additional services or even paid additional cleanings, so we will need to think outside the box. Since your trip is so close and you likely have dining reservations and theme park reservations associate with the stay, rebooking as a split stay may not be feasible. But if you were booked as two one-week reservations rather than one long reservation, you could pack out halfway through the trip, leave your luggage with bell services for the day, and then move to a freshly and thoroughly cleaned room for the second half of your stay. Another idea would be to pack your own cleaning supplies from home or order them delivered to you with Amazon or Instacart. This would be a good opportunity to throw in some extra necessities such as sunscreen, bottled water, and snacks for the room. I think this is the solution I would go with. Now, while there are no guarantees, you could call Mousekeeping and explain your concerns and needs and ask for the supplies to clean the toilet to be brought to your room so you could do your own clean part-way through your trip, along with your fresh bedlinens. I don't know if they would do this, but I am thinking there is a good chance they might. Do know that they do not have to accommodate this request, and they could potentially charge you for the cleaning supplies.
I know that this is very different than what we were all used to before the pandemic, and I am hopeful that over time, as things become safer nationwide, we will see a return to more normal experiences. As a nurse, I can tell you I am one of those
most wishing for things to be safer and more normal! Shelley, while things may not be quite the same, I’m sure you will still have a wonderful visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. The magic and enchantment are still there, despite the changes, and we could all use a bit more magic in our lives!
Wishing you a fabulous trip to the Walt Disney World Resort!
