We are leaving to Bahamian cruise next Sunday. I made a reservation to our excursion at Nasau. However, the cabanas were sold out. Any tips on what to bring so that we are still going to enjoy our day even without a cabana. I heard it is going to be hot!

Welcome aboard, Elizabeth! In just a few more days, your family will be arriving at Port Canaveral and walking into the atrium lobby of your ship as the Cast Members announce your family name and applaud your arrival! What a magical way to begin your Disney cruise vacation!

Don't worry about not having a private cabana at Castaway Cay. They are certainly very nice and I would love to try one myself some day. But, my family has always found that there is ample shade, plenty of chairs, both lounge chairs and regular beach chairs, umbrellas and of course places to cool off without renting a cabana! With the ocean right in front of your chair, it is as easy as can be to cool off in that crystal clear Bahamian water! Plus, my family has very fair skin, so shade is important to us, and we've never been without a nice shady spot on Castaway Cay's Family Beach.

Lunch at Cookies BBQ or Cookies Too, which is included in the cost of your cruise, can be eaten in the cool shade under one of many covered seating areas. Our family actually finds that with all of the activities and events that are offered all day long on Castaway Cay, we don't end up staying at our chairs on the beach all that long anyway!

Just head off the ship in the morning and hop on the tram. There are two Family Beach stops for the tram. Many guests will hop off the tram at the first stop, Scuttle's Cove, not realizing that there is another stop a bit farther down Family Beach, where it is less crowded. We usually stay on the tram and hop off at the Pelican Plunge tram stop to find a seat. No matter how many guests are sailing on the ship with us, we've never had trouble finding a nice shady spot. So, don't worry! Have fun as you continue to plan these last couple of days and enjoy your magical cruise, Elizabeth!
