William,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Yes, with a valid theme park admission and
theme park reservation you can enter a park, leave, and then return later in the day. Cast members confirmed that unlike with park hopping, which is reliant upon there being capacity available, you are confirmed to be able to return to the park. On our family trips we always do this, as we make it a point to take an afternoon pool break. It helps keep us refreshed and recharged. It also gets us excited for the evening's events and dinner.
ROUTE RECOMMENDATIONSIf you are headed from the
Magic Kingdom park to
Disney's Contemporary Resort for the competition, be aware that you don't have to take the monorail over. There is a walkway that is a far faster option for you, and it is less than a 1/2 mile (3/4 km) walk.
If you are leaving from
EPCOT you would take the monorail, and you should budget at least 20 minutes for travel time. But remember that you will have two different times when you have to wait for your monorail to arrive, as you have to change monorail lines once, so plan extra time for that as well. I would budget at least 40 minutes in all.
If you are heading from
Disney's Hollywood Studios or
Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park, the bus is your transportation option of choice, and it will take at least 25 minutes, once you board your bus. Give yourself at least 45 minutes in either of these cases.
