Can you leave the park and re enter again??

Greetings, Jasmine, and welcome to planDisney! You have a level of flexibility built into your Disneyland Resort theme park tickets. Magical and convenient, right?

I'm happy to share that you are certainly welcome to leave the park and return on the same day with a valid theme park ticket. I've done that many times! Perhaps you want to head to the hotel for a midday break. Or, you have a dining reservation at the Downtown Disney District. Maybe you forgot your sunglasses in the car. Or, you want to change your outfit. That would be totally fine! Just make sure you have your ticket handy, since it will need to be scanned again when you want to re-enter the park.

I have even better news if you drive to the Resort. If you need to leave with your car the day of your visit, just show your parking receipt at the booth when you re-enter, and you won't have to pay again!

One of my favorite theme park strategies is to take a midday break when the sun is at its hottest and the lines are long for many popular attractions. My family usually has a nice lunch, relaxes for a bit, and stops by the pool during that time. We head back into the park in the evening and stay for the nighttime entertainment. It's a great way to beat the heat, give our legs a break, and experience the park at an enjoyable pace.

There's one situation that I wanted to mention – if the park reaches capacity, entrances could be temporarily paused. That's fairly rare, and generally centered around major holidays. I visit often and have not personally experienced it.

Before we say goodbye today, let's cover some ticketing basics. At the time of writing this, both a valid theme park ticket and reservation are required to enter a park. Your reservation indicates the day your ticket will be used and the park. You typically make your selections during the purchase process on the Disneyland Resort website. If you need to adjust your reservation, you can do so on the website or in the Disneyland mobile app. When you use your ticket for the first time, the Cast Member will take a photo of you – that photo will be tied to your ticket and will display when your ticket is scanned upon reentry.

Jasmine, please let us know if you think of any other questions as you continue planning your Disneyland Resort trip – we're always happy to help here at planDisney!
