Hello, Carole! Thanks for stopping by planDisney. We get
loads of questions about laundry at Walt Disney World Resort (pun intended)! I'm happy to "put my spin" on this situation.
Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort is my family's home resort, so it has a special place in my heart. I love the modern aesthetic, and you can't beat the convenient location near
Magic Kingdom Park and the monorail. Another benefit of staying in a Deluxe Villa is that the 1, 2, and 3 bedrooms also feature in-unit washers and dryers. This is an amenity I can't live without, especially during my runDisney race weekends (or when I spill ketchup on my shirt)!
The Villas with in-room laundry are stocked at check-in with one container (meant for one or two loads of wash) of eco-friendly laundry detergent. No dryer sheets or fabric softeners are provided in the room, so I usually pack my own. I couldn't recall if the machines have bleach and fabric softener dispensers, but I did zoom in on a picture I took on my last visit and could see it is a GE Appliances brand. I found a similar model online, which does show a liquid dispenser in the washer. You should be able to use your fabric softener in the machine, but as a backup, you may want to pack a few dryer sheets- just in case.
We have also stayed at the Deluxe Studios here on a few occasions, and something to keep in mind is that these units do not come equipped with an in-room washer and dryer. Bay Lake Tower has a
laundry room on the first floor for all guests. There are three washers and six dryers, and there is no charge to use the laundry facilities. There is also a vending machine with detergent and dryer sheets for sale here. The washing machines are front loaders; if memory serves me correctly, they do not have a dispenser. However, there are signs with a QR code that you can scan with your phone to receive a text message when your cycle is complete, which is very helpful!
Hopefully, my advice isn't
all washed up, Carole! Have a magical time!
