One of many reasons my family continued to sail on Disney Cruise Line when my Mouseketeers were younger was the
youth programming. My two could not get enough of these spaces and the fun activities the youth counselors provided. My husband and I felt comfortable leaving them for hours of fun while we enjoyed the
adult-only venues onboard. They often closed out the spaces even though it was way past their normal bedtimes. They always seemed to have extra energy to stay up later on these vacations! Typically, the
Oceaneer Club and
Oceaneer Lab are open until midnight. This timing should give you ample opportunities to enjoy live music, adult-only game shows like Match Your Mate, a beverage seminar, or a drink at your favorite lounge before picking up your sailor. If, for any reason, the youth counselors need to reach out, they will do so via the
Disney Cruise Line Navigator app. You'll want to keep that handy while you enjoy your evening activities. My best advice for helping your child feel comfortable in the youth spaces is to visit as a family on the first afternoon during
Open House hours. Visit each area together and let the youth counselors know if your family has any questions about what's offered. My kids always checked in on the first night to get to know the counselors and make friends with other sailors right away. We also spent time together browsing the scheduled programming so they could check in for any events they wanted to attend. I love that the app lets you favorite all your must-dos and sends a reminder 15 minutes beforehand so you don't miss out. We would always do this the night before for the next day's activities during dinner or while waiting for the show to start.
