Hi Holly and thanks for bringing your question to us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
The Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort is my family’s favorite place to stay at the Walt Disney World Resort. There are so many fun and unique outdoor activities that you can do with your family from canoeing, archery, horseback riding and you can even enjoy a quiet and leisurely
Horse-Drawn Carriage Ride.
Did you know that the only resort areas that offer Horse-Drawn Carriage rides are Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Disney’s Port Orleans Resort?
Holly, most carriage ride reservation times begin at 5:30 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. The rides are 25 minutes long and go out every half-hour at the main entrance of Crockett’s Tavern at The Cabins and Campsites of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. I noticed that your planned visit is during September and the cost for your ride will be $55. During the month of December, the carriage is decorated for the holidays and becomes a sleigh ride that will cost you $84.
The carriages are big enough to fit up to 4 adults or 2 adults and 3 small children. Reservations can be made up to 180 days before your visit by calling (407) WDW-PLAY or (407) 939-7529.
If you’re not able to book a carriage ride,
Wagon Rides are also a fun experience and don’t require as much planning, as they are available on a first-come, first-served basis. They depart at 6:00 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. daily.
Hope that helps with your magical planning! Don’t hesitate to come back and see us soon!
