Hi Nazleen,
Welcome to planDisney! We are so happy to have joined us with your question.
This is a fun one for me because you might feel my procrastination energy coming through. I am a pick-up-and-go kind of traveler. I decide last minute, pack alllllll the things in a hurry, and head out. This works for us because we are exceedingly flexible, but I don't recommend it for most people.
The truth, Nazleen, is that you
can make your
Walt Disney World Resort vacation plans as late as your day of arrival. However, you would really have to wish upon a star to secure the popular Resort hotel reservations, dining, and entertainment options that you would like to experience. With limited last-minute availability, make sure to pack your adventurous spirit and flexibility!
Instead, I recommend highly that you kick off your Walt Disney World Resort vacation planning as soon as your dates are set. That way you can have access to the greatest assortment of magical
Resort hotels,
Enchanting Extras that you will remember for a lifetime, and
Advance Dining Reservations for meals that you will be telling your family and friends about for years to come. (For example, you must try the Vegetable "Wellington" at
Steakhouse 71, located in
Disney's Contemporary Resort. Trust me.)
Quick Tip: Late August is a wonderful time to visit to include a Disney Water Park day (or several!) in your vacation plans. When the Florida sun is bringing the heat, escape to the cool waters of Disney's
Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or
Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park for a wet and wild day of Disney fun! If you are looking for the ultimate refuge from the heat, check out one of their private escapes such as the
Beachcomber Shacks at Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park or the
Polar Patios at Disney's Blizzard Beach Water Park. You will be so glad that you did. Of course, these are limited, so you will want to reserve them as soon as possible.
I hope that helps, Nazleen! Come on back to planDisney with any other questions as you make your practically perfect Disney Parks plans. We love to help!
Adventure is out there,
Sally
