Last year, my 16-year old daughter and I spent a great 17+ hour day in CA Adv. on New Year's Eve! We thoroughly enjoyed the 2nd fireworks from San Fransokyo Sq. I want to repeat this in Disneyland this year. Any good quieter spots for fireworks at 12?

Hi John! Welcome to planDisney. I’m so glad you reached out with this question. There is something truly special about ringing in the New Year inside the Disneyland Resort, especially when you’re sharing that moment with someone you care about. It sounds like you and your daughter created wonderful memories last year in Disney California Adventure, and I love that you’re planning to usher in midnight together again, this time in Disneyland. I’d be happy to help you find a viewing spot that brings in the magic without the extra hustle during those final countdown moments.

One area I would recommend on New Year’s Eve is New Orleans Square. The pathway along the Rivers of America offers a generous view of the fireworks, and because the crowds naturally concentrate near Sleeping Beauty Castle, this area tends to allow a bit more breathing room. I recommend browsing Tiana’s Palace earlier in the evening so you can plan a return later. When the time draws closer, I’ve found that grabbing beignets from the Mint Julep Bar (just steps away) and having a treat in hand makes the moment feel celebratory. If you’re hoping to sit down and relax, you may even look into a later reservation at Café Orleans. A cozy meal in the open-air seating while colors dance overhead can be a peaceful and charming way to welcome the new year.

Another option would be Tomorrowland. The area near the Finding Nemo Submarine Lagoon often has fewer guests gathered specifically for fireworks. While there may be music from the nearby DJ at Galactic Grill, if you follow the walkway up toward Matterhorn Bobsleds, things tend to quiet down. Spaces near the Autopia track or along the monorail beam can offer surprisingly calm viewing. Plus, you’ll be well positioned to make an easy exit via the Monorail afterward, should you want to glide back toward the Downtown Disney District as the crowd flows out.

And if you’re up for stopping by Batuu before midnight, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge can be a wonderful way to close out the year. While not every spot offers a full, unobstructed view, there are areas just outside Ronto Roasters where the fireworks peek through beautifully. This area is often calmer, and a late-night Black Caf can provide just enough caffeine to keep spirits high until countdown. There’s something unforgettable about greeting a brand-new year while surrounded by other travelers among the stars.

John, I hope these suggestions help you and your daughter set the stage for another meaningful New Year’s Eve together. Wishing you both a celebration filled with shared smiles, warm moments, and just the right touch of Disney magic.

    Happy (early) New Year!
