What is the last day that I can add a dining experience (add a plan) to my existing reservation? Is it 48 hours or 24 hours before my trip to Disney? Thanks!

Hiya, Isania! Welcome to planDisney. It looks like your trip to the Most Magical Place on Earth is just about to hit SINGLE DIGITS! Cue the confetti! I am celebrating with you.

I am so excited dining plans have returned to Walt Disney World Resort. I like not thinking about menu prices when deciding between meal options. I also like knowing how to plan my budget.

If you have purchased a Disney Resort Hotel Package, you can add a dining plan to your reservation at any time before the day of your arrival. So, technically, it's not 24 hours, but up to any time on the day before your check-in date.

You have two options for a dining plan.

    • The Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan includes 2 quick-service meals per night of your stay; 1 snack or nonalcoholic drink per night of your stay; and a resort-refillable drink mug for sodas, tea and coffee.
    • The Disney Dining Plan includes 1 table-service meal per night of your stay; 1 quick-service meal per night of your stay; 1 snack or nonalcoholic drink per night of your stay; and a resort-refillable drink mug.

If it helps you decide the best option for your vacation, you can check out the restaurants that participate in the Disney Quick-Service Dining Plan and the table-service restaurants for the Disney Dining Plan. You can upgrade your resort package to add a dining plan online anytime before your arrival date.

A Cast Member told me that if you booked a resort-only reservation, you will need to call the Disney Reservation Center to have your trip rebooked to a package to be able to add a dining plan. Since it would be rebooking your reservation, it is better to do this as soon as possible.

If you decide to add a dining plan, I recommend Columbia Harbour House in Magic Kingdom Park and Satu'li Canteen in Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park as my two favorite quick-service restaurants. And for snacks, it's the funnel cake with strawberries and powdered sugar at Sleepy Hollow in the Magic Kingdom and any snack option at Karamell-Küche at EPCOT.

If you have any other questions, please swing back by planDisney. We're here for you!

    Cheers!
