Peter,
Thanks for asking your question to planDisney!
Unfortunately, using a new
MagicBand+ band like a standard wristwatch may not work for you. I measured one of the ones we have at home, and at best it could cover a wrist of around 7 inches, maybe. Certainly, 10 inches would be more than a stretch.
But don't worry, there are solutions. I have found on sites like Etsy some items you can purchase that could help. With these solutions, you can remove the central "puck" of the band that houses the essential technology, and place it in a holder. These holders allow you to wear the puck like a pendant, a keychain, or on your backpack with a carabiner clip. And these band accessories, while not officially from Disney, seem to work quite well. I have not tried it with the newer MagicBand+ bands, but I did it several times with legacy MagicBands, so I could attach that puck to the band on my Apple watch. They worked like a charm. In addition, they are pretty affordable, often costing less than $20 US.
BONUS TIPI did check
shopDisney.com, and at this time they do not seem to have any similar MagicBand+ accessories. However they eventually did offer some with the legacy version of the bands, so keep checking there to see if any get developed.
Now I have heard that the haptics (the vibration feature of the bands), may not be as noticeable when you don't wear it like a band, but other than that you should still be able to enjoy all the features of the bands as you enjoy your day in the parks, and in the resort hotels!
