Can you take a laptop on a cruise? Is there a place to lock it up at? We are going on a Disney Alaska Cruise June 4,2012. Thanks

    Ahoy Ruth!
Welcome to the Moms Panel! Your vacation dreams will soon become a reality as you set sail for an amazing Alaskan cruise!  June is just around the corner so I know your crew is growing very excited about the wondrous voyage that awaits you!
Laptops can be brought onboard and used while you are out to sea!  I brought mine on my last cruise and was able to surf the net from my stateroom and on deck.  Since you are in the ocean, service can sometimes be slow.  There are hot spots around the ship that will be listed on your Wireless Internet Information Sheet which can be picked up from Guest Services.  Internet packages can be purchased for your convenience.  For a seven-night cruise, you can expect to pay $55.00 for 100 minutes, $100.00 for 250 minutes, and $150.00 for $500 minutes.  If you don't need a lot of internet time,  you can pay 75 cents per minute.  These are the current prices so always double check once you board the ship.
There is a safe in your stateroom, but it is not quite large enough to store a laptop.  I left mine in the room many times and was not worried at all about it being stolen.
I hope this information helps with your planning, Ruth!  As you count down the final days until your Alaskan adventure, please let me know if you have any other last minute questions!
Have a magical day and wonderful cruise vacation!
