Kona Cafe has a to go option. Would this be used to take to the parks or can you order and sit somewhere? What is the difference between this to go and a quick service option? Thank you for the help!!

Aloha Stacey, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. There’s nothing I love to talk about more than Disney food!

Mobile food ordering lets you order and prepay for food at both quick-service restaurants (the casual eateries where you typically order at a counter and take the food to a table) and select table-service restaurants (where, if you use mobile ordering, you’ll take the food to go).

My family loves ordering to go because it gives us more food options even if we don’t have time for a full sit-down meal, especially if we’re too close to my nephew’s nap or bedtime. Kona Cafe, in particular, is one of our favorites since we often stay at the Polynesian. My mouth is watering just thinking about the Mirin-Teriyaki Steak Salad on the lunch menu!

The seating at Kona Cafe is reserved for their table-service guests, but there are plenty of other open seating areas at the Polynesian. When my family gets Kona Cafe To Go, we usually bring the food to the tables at Capt. Cook’s or to our room. There are also tables at the pool (if you’re a Polynesian Resort guest) and chairs on the beach. While there aren't tables on the beach, you’ll get a magical view of Cinderella Castle while you enjoy your meal on the lounge chairs or picnic-style on the sand!

In my experience ordering to go from table-service restaurants, it usually takes longer for Cast Members to prepare your food once you press the “I’m Here, Prepare My Order” button compared to quick-service eateries. So factor that extra wait time into your planning to avoid any hangry kiddos—or adults!

You might also want to check out Wailulu Bar & Grill which recently opened at the Polynesian Villa’s new Island Tower. While they don’t have a to go option yet, the menu looks amazing. I’m excited to try it on my next trip!

And while you’re at the Polynesian, don’t miss getting a Dole Whip at Pineapple Lanai. In fact, there’s no better way to end the day than by grabbing a treat and heading to the beach to watch Happily Ever After or the Electrical Water Pageant!

I’m wishing you a magical Disney World vacation filled with delicious food! If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to come back to planDisney.
