    I know you are supposed to wear comfortable shoes to the World. That being said, what type of shoes do you and your families wear?? Do they get wet at any of the attractions?? If so, what are some of your tips to keep them dry?? My girls are 4 & 7.

    I can certainly attest to the fact that comfortable walking shoes are a must. One year my hubby decided to spend a day touring Epcot in TopSiders. These were well-worn shoes that he had had for several years. But he was not wearing socks. The friction of non-breathable leather against his skin resulted in some large and painful blisters. He ended up hobbling around for the rest of our trip.

    Obviously comfort means something different to everyone, but hubby now only goes into the parks with sneakers and socks. This is also usually what I put on my girls, although sometimes they will wear Crocs in the parks and we have thus far had no problems with them. I mostly wear sneakers in the parks too, but I do live on the edge sometimes and wear something like ballet flats if I know that we'll only be doing heavy-duty park touring for part of the day.

    There are a few attractions where your shoes could get wet. Notably these are Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom and Kali River Rapids in the Animal Kingdom. For Splash Mountain, I mostly just hope for the best. This ride could get your shoes damp, but you're unlikely to have them totally soaked. Kali River is another story. You, and your clothes, and your shoes, and everything else, are going to get soaked. My kids will now only ride this while wearing a poncho and even that doesn't always do the trick. If you want to be sure to keep your shoes totally dry, I would take any sneakers you're wearing off and put them in a plastic bag. You could bring some rubber flip-flops to wear during the ride.

    Another possible reason to carry something like flip-flops with you is the interactive fountains. At several spots in the Magic Kingdom and Epcot there are water sprays and fountains that kids are allowed in play in. It also couldn't hurt to bring a change of clothes for the kids if you think they might enjoy this activity.
