I know that you can remove the grey outer part of the magic bands, making them shorter. What is the length of the magic band when that is removed?

Hi, Kelly! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

You are correct! Removing the grey outer portion of a MagicBand takes them from 10.5 inches to right at eight inches long. From the top of the MagicBand to the first hole is 5.75 inches (whether you remove that outer portion or not), but from the top to the last hole is just under eight inches on the shortened band and right past 10.25 inches on the full-length one. My daughter and I both prefer to wear the shorter versions, while my husband prefers to keep his intact.

While guests who stay at an official Walt Disney World Resort hotel receive complimentary Magic Bands with their reservation, we love purchasing ones from the various Limited Release collections, too. We each have a wide assortment of MagicBands to choose from, and we especially love to coordinate our MagicBands with our outfits for each day of our Walt Disney World Resort vacations.

If wearing a MagicBand around your wrist isn’t your style, you can always opt to purchase a Mickey Mouse MagicKeepers Lanyard Medal or Disney Parks MagicKeepers Carabiner to clip onto your bag, lanyard or belt loop. And don’t forget to dress up your MagicBand with accessories like MagicBandits, too!

I hope that answers your question, Kelly, and I hope you have a magical visit to the Walt Disney World Resort!
