Welcome to planDisney, Aurora! It’s never too early to start planning for
Oogie Boogie Bash. My wife and I have already begun thinking about our own costumes, so I completely understand wanting to get the details sorted out ahead of time. As a fellow WWE fan, and especially a Danhausen fan, I’m thrilled to help with this question.
Based on the current
Disneyland Resort Costume Guidelines, face paint is generally permitted for Guests attending Oogie Boogie Bash. The guidelines state that Guests ages 14 and older may not wear masks that fully cover the face (unless required for medical purposes), and costumes may not obstruct a Guest's vision. Since Danhausen's look relies on face paint rather than a mask, it would typically be approved within those guidelines.
That said, costume policies are always subject to interpretation by Disneyland Resort Cast Members and Security personnel on the day of the event. Because of that, I always recommend having a backup plan. If possible, consider bringing a photo of your completed costume and having an alternative version in mind that uses less face paint should any concerns arise during the security screening process.
One thing I love about Oogie Boogie Bash is how creative Guests become with their costumes. Disney California Adventure transforms into a wonderfully spooky celebration filled with immersive entertainment, unique character encounters, treat trails, and festive décor. If this will be your first visit to
Villains Grove, you're in for a treat. Redwood Creek Challenge Trail becomes an eerie and beautifully themed walkthrough experience featuring lighting effects, projections, and villain-inspired environments that feel completely different from its daytime appearance.
Here's a Q-Tip to help your evening go smoothly: if you plan to enter Disney California Adventure Park before the party officially begins, pick up your event wristband at one of the designated in-park distribution locations as soon as you arrive. This can save valuable time later in the afternoon when entrance lines begin to grow. Those extra minutes can be spent collecting treats, meeting rare characters, or enjoying some of the Halloween-themed entertainment throughout the park.
Aurora, your Danhausen-inspired costume sounds very nice... and very evil! I hope this helps as you prepare for an unforgettable evening at Oogie Boogie Bash. If any additional questions creep out of the shadows before your visit, please stop by planDisney again. We'd be delighted to help.
May your treat bag be overflowing, your Villains Grove journey be delightfully eerie, and your Oogie Boogie Bash adventure be filled with unforgettable memories!
