Hi, Anabel, and welcome to planDisney! You're at the
Most Magical Place on Earth, so I'm a bit jealous. Even a blustery day at Disney beats a sunny one anywhere else! As a part-time Florida resident, I understand being on weather watch, so let's look at some tools to help you maneuver the theme parks this week. Pop up that umbrella, and let's go!
I was at
Magic Kingdom Park when a tropical storm entered the area a few years ago. A park-wide announcement over the intercom system told guests to exit the park and take shelter as soon as possible. So, if you're at a theme park today, you can be assured that Cast Members will keep an eye on the radar and give advanced warnings of any closures.
You can also check the
Weather Updates & Information page for announcements. The page doesn't mention the current storm system, so as they say, no news is good news! The
Disney Parks Blog will also publish closure updates, so that's another place to check. My final tip would be to call the Park Hopper line at (407) 560-5000 to see if parks are open.
As you probably know, Walt Disney World Resort operates rain or shine. Most attractions continue to operate during wet conditions, but lightning or strong winds can temporarily close outdoor rides. The Tip Board in your
mobile app is the best way to see if an attraction is operating. Select "Wait Times & Showtimes" under the My Visit section to pick a park and see current wait times. You'll see a purple icon with "Temporarily Closed" if an attraction isn't operating. A look at Magic Kingdom Park shows several outdoor attractions are currently closed, so please keep checking for updates throughout your visit.
Anabel, they say if you don't like Florida's weather, just wait a few minutes! I'm waving my Fairy Godmother wand, hoping the clouds will part soon. I've heard waits are short during inclement weather, so splash in the puddles and make some memories. Please
stop by planDisney anytime!
Magic awaits,
Elaine
