    Hi! I know I’m allowed to smoke in the designated areas at the parks but can I still bring my vape pen on me as I go through security? Will it set the metal detector off? Just looking for help on what to expect if I brought it thank you

    Hi!

    Welcome to planDisney. Your upcoming vacation is sure to be super magical. Spring is one of my favorite seasons at Walt Disney World because the EPCOT International Flower and Garden Festival is in full bloom.

    Vape pens are not on the list of prohibited items at Disney World. As a result, there should be no issues with you taking them through security. It will potentially set off the metal detector and require you to go through additional screening. This is not a big deal at all. You will simply go to the side, a guard will look through your bag, and you will be scanned with a wand. It takes about 5 minutes and I have been through it multiple times. 

    When you arrive, I would ask a cast member where the designated smoking areas currently are within or around the theme parks. Keep in mind that smoking is also not permitted in Disney Resort hotel rooms or on balconies. There will be designated outdoor locations for smoking and vaping at your resort hotel as well. The front desk will be able to give you the most up to date information on where these are located.
