Hi Kimberly, and thanks for bringing your question to planDisney. I’m excited to see that you’ll be walking down Main Street, U.S.A. and exploring
Harambe Wildlife Reserve this weekend! So let’s make sure you have the information you need to capture all of those magical moments.
Currently, there aren’t any rules restricting the kind of camera you can bring into Disney World theme parks. So you should be good to bring your camera as long as you’re not taking photos or videos for unapproved commercial purposes.
However, there are rules on tripods to keep in mind. According to the
Disney World Property Rules, tripods or monopod stands are prohibited if they cannot fit inside a standard backpack or if they extend over 6 feet in length. Additionally, selfie sticks and hand-held extension poles are not allowed at all, so I’d avoid bringing anything that extends. These rules are meant to ensure that guests have a safe and enjoyable experience. Cast Members always reserve the right to determine whether an item is unsafe or disruptive to other guests, so they may inspect your tripod when you go through security or are inside the park.
Before I go, I wanted to tell you about one of my favorite photo opportunities at Disney World! If you love birds, don’t miss the
Winged Encounters mini show in
Animal Kingdom. There’s a part where you might even get to see a flock of macaws fly in to visit guests in front of the
Tree of Life. A Cast Member will usually let you know when to get your camera ready! The birds often hang out for a little bit after the show is over, so you might have the chance to get a close-up photo of some beautiful feathered friends.
I hope you have the most magical time at Disney World this weekend! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome at planDisney.
