do you know how far out on your vacation you cancel a reservation before losing your points.

    Hi Candace!

Greetings and a warm “Welcome Home!”, from a fellow Hoosier! It’s a good idea to know the reservation cancelation rules of your Membership in case the unexpected happens, so I’m so glad you’ve asked this question.
    • If it is 31 days or more prior to check-in, all vacation points used to make the reservation will be returned to your account in the Use Year in which the reservation falls.
    • If it is less than 31 days, but more than 1 day before check-in, the vacation points will be placed into a Holding Account in the Use Year in which the reservation falls.
    • If you cancel your reservation on the Check-in date, all the vacation points used to make the reservation will be forfeited.
Let’s review what you can do with your vacation points when they are in a Holding Account. Points in a Holding Account can be used for a new reservation booked within the next 60 days at Disney Vacation Club Resorts, Disneyland Resort Hotels, Tokyo Disney Resort Hotels and the World Passport Collection.  If you are not in the last four months of your use year at the time of needing to use the Holding Points, you can also use them for the Disney Collection and the Concierge Collection.  Points in a Holding Account cannot be banked or borrowed and must be used by the end of the Use Year or they will expire.

I hope that helps you to understand how the system works as you plan your upcoming Disney Vacation Club vacations.

    Wishing you Membership Magic!
